is a restaurant located in the heart of Siem Reap. It is owned and run by a Swiss couple, Sara & Paul Wallimann. Haven offers vocational training in hospitality and cooking, along with practical life skills and emotional support to young orphans, half-orphans and abandoned children, who have aged out of orphanages and have nowhere to go.
This short film is an extract from a conversation with Paul, illustrated with images taken in and around the town of Siem Reap.
Paul talks about his first hand experience working in an orphanage in Cambodia, what he discovered and why he and his wife chose to set up Haven.
Having dined at the restaurant, I can vouch, whole heartedly, for the food, service and friendly ambiance of the place. You have to eat, so choosing to dine in venues such as Haven, is one of the easiest and effective ways tourists can responsibly support disadvantaged young people.
